Dive Brief:
- Davidson College professors will design lessons for AP calculus, physics and macroeconomics and make them available through the College Board and edX.
- The idea is to prepare lessons on the trickiest concepts in each subject, using data from the AP exams and working with local high schools.
- Davidson will develop the lessons this academic year and try them on a pilot basis next year before making them widely available in 2015.
Dive Insight:
This seems like a solid use of MOOCs — targeted lessons designed by experts to explain tough concepts within the context of a class. As a bonus, the lessons will also be available online for students learning independently.
