This week, Education Dive took a look at 7 competency-based programs worth watching in higher ed. Speaking of competency-based learning, the University of Texas System also announced its own program, developed by its Institute for Transformational Learning and faculty. Additionally, for-profit Bridgepoint Education announced 167 layoffs ahead of its earnings release, while online learning facilitator 2U continued seeing its losses fall as its programs continue to grow and see success. Finally, SUNY Cobleskill launched its Google Glass pilot for paramedic and animal science programs, giving students live-streaming, point-of-view video of various procedures, and allowing the students to be better evaluated from their own viewpoint.
