Dive Brief:
- Adaptive learning provider Knewton and information technology firm HP have teamed up to create a personalized print solution.
- The new product allows digital publishers to also offer personalized worksheets and text chapters that can be printed. Printed materials can be scanned with an HP-developed smartphone app, allowing all work to be stored and marked digitally.
- The effort was prompted by the idea that not every student has a computer at home, and some even do better reading from paper, so providing options between print and digital could help better personalize the learning experience.
Dive Insight:
What an interesting idea for addressing clear need gaps. While there is a push for more digital experiences in school, it's sometimes easy to forget that these chasms still exist in homes. Not every child will have the opportunity to read a digital chapter for homework, so unless your school is 1:1 and lets students take their tech home, this is a great option. Then, of course, there is the fact that everyone learns differently and some students, in fact, prefer to learn off of paper so they can take notes or annotate by hand.
