This week, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Coursera announced their partnership on the iMBA, a $20,000, MOOC-driven graduate degree program that the UIUC College of Business' Raj Echambadi told Education Dive will be truly disruptive because of its format. "If you are going to do the same thing that everybody is doing, then you don’t stand out," he said.
Meanwhile, Title IX's protections aren't just being cited by alleged sexual assault victims on college campuses, but by those accused — though there has been perhaps only one case so far where it was done successfully.
For-profit higher ed had another rough week, as Career Education and Education Management Corporation, which notably operates the Art Institutes, both announced significant campus closures. In Career Education's case, all but two locations are set for shutdown. One school in K-12, however, is having much greater success: AltSchool, founded by former Google executive and Aardvark founder Max Ventilla, raised $100 million from Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg.
