Dive Insight:
By themselves, EDGE Edtech's co-founders bring a considerable background in education technology to the table. Don Burton was instrumental in the formation of a "Scholastic-like" education unit at the Walt Disney Company and also served as managing director of the Kaplan/Techstars EdTech Accelerator in 2013 and 2014. Jonathan D. Harber is the former CEO and co-founder of Schoolnet, later serving as CEO of Pearson K12 Technology after it acquired the data analytics company.
The three months of the EDGE Accelerator lead up to a Demo Day set to feature numerous angel and venture capital education investors, as the accelerator's ultimate goal, according to a press release, is to help the entrepreneurs involved line up their next financing round. The mentors lined up for the program will also reportedly include a who's who of education executives, investors, and policy experts, though specific names haven't been revealed.
