K-12 educational software and adaptive assessments provider Renaissance Learning announced Monday it has completed its acquisition of GL Education, a London-based formative assessment provider that serves schools in more than 100 countries worldwide.
According to a statement from Renaissance, the acquisition is expected to expand Renaissance’s footprint while enabling it to deliver a more robust suite of personalized teaching solutions.
“GL Education’s formative assessments, paired with Renaissance’s interconnected solutions, further empower our educators and help leaders leverage data to make meaningful change based on each individual students’ needs,” said Chris Bauleke, CEO at Renaissance, in a statement.
The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
In August, Renaissance acquired software and services provider Illuminate Education in another move to strengthen its assessment and teacher support capabilities. Though unrelated, that deal followed a high-profile cyberattack on Illuminate Education in January 2022 that impacted multiple districts nationwide, including New York City Public Schools and Los Angeles Unified School District.
Renaissance’s investment to build out its assessment capabilities follows another high-profile K-12 assessment acquisition. In January, learning technology company HMH acquired nonprofit assessment provider NWEA to bolster its array of assessment and curriculum tools.
