Dive Brief:
- At the Texas Computer Education Association Convention Thursday, K-12 administrative software provider Skyward announced a new digital test bank, aiming to simplify custom online exam creation at the district, school, and classroom level.
- The platform is designed for the creation of summative, Common Core-aligned exams that measure student growth.
- The assessments are sharable on systems interchangeably, a move that further facilitates collaboration.
Dive Insight:
Last month, it was reported that states are not only using the Common Core and its aligned tests, but they're also increasingly borrowing test questions from one another. Skyward's new solution feels like a smaller microcosm of this trend. As noted then, this chain of question sharing between states is definitely something new, at least when it comes to state exams; however, on a more mircro-level, this sort of exchange has been happening for quite some time. Sites like Better Lesson and ShareMyLesson allow educators from across the nation to share resources, assignments, and even test questions.
As taxing as teaching can be, products that make it easier to share what works can only help make schools more efficient.
