• Since the announcement of his ouster as acting Pennsylvania Education Secretary yesterday, it has been revealed that William Harner was asked to step down due to an e-mail sent to a male administrative staffer during his time as superintendent of Cumberland Valley School District.
• While on vacation earlier this year, the staffer reportedly received an e-mail from Harner asking how he looked in a speedo; a human resources internal investigation and outside probe by a law firm turned up as many as 18 additional "awkward comments" from Harner.
• Though Harner violated no laws or policies, the incidents were in poor taste and the district didn't plan on renewing his contract in June prior to his selection as acting state education secretary by Gov. Tom Corbett.

... Corbett named executive deputy secretary Carolyn Dumaresq as Harner's replacement, effective immediately. She is a former superintendent at Central Dauphin and Steelton-Highspire school district and former executive director of the Pennsylvania State Education Association,  

She is the third person Corbett has named to the post since he took office in January 2011. Harner replaced Ron Tomalis, who was abruptly removed from the Cabinet post in May and named as Corbett's higher education special adviser. ...
