Parents and educators said high quality instruction is a top factor in students' success and that education technology has created more opportunities for personalized learning, enabling students to learn at their own pace both on campus and off, according to survey results from Instructure, an education technology company, and Hanover Research, an analytics and research service.
While parents and educators view effective teachers as essential for boosting student engagement and academic progress, both populations said hybrid learning supported by ed tech holds value, particularly with individualized learning.
The survey found 58% of educators hold a more positive opinion toward online learning than before COVID-19. This is likely because online learning is now being used to supplement in-person instruction rather than as a substitute, a report about the survey results said.
Educators also noted they are generally concerned about balancing screen time (62%), technology overuse (48%), and distractions (45%). A little over a quarter of parent respondents (28%) reported concerns about the amount of time students spent on screens in the classroom.
Participants in the survey included 1,379 K-12 parents, teachers and administrators.
