Dive Brief:
- A new Front Row Education survey of 1,000 teachers reports that 80% of K-8 educators anticipate using classroom technology “more frequently” during the 2015-16 school year.
- The main reason for the boost is the increased accessibility of tech devices like tablets and computers in the classroom, followed by the positive results teachers have observed firsthand for “superior learner outcomes,” eSchoolNews reports.
- The survey also found that 75% of teachers said they had seen an increase in administrative support for tech in the classroom.
Dive Insight:
Some 80% of the teachers surveyed also reported already using technology in their classroom daily, and nine out of 10 used tech at least 4 days a week, according to eSchoolNews. The advent of tech isn’t just good for student performance, it’s also good for teachers, allowing them to give individual attention to students who need it while the rest of their class is busy using devices.
Notably, the survey found that teachers across age brackets are adopting tech-based approaches. This finding is contrary to previous research, which has shown slow adoption rates for older educators.
