Dive Brief:
- University of Central Florida is launching the second iteration of Educause’s first MOOC, a professional development course on creating and implementing a blended learning approach.
- Two versions of the MOOC are offered: a free version and a “low-cost” track with a portfolio review and certification for those who complete it, including a digital badge that can be posted online.
- The five-week course, "BlendKit2015: Becoming a Blended Learning Designer," starts in February.
Dive Insight:
Both blended learning and instruction on the approach will become more popular as more teachers and professors learn about the strengths of the teaching method. The Central Florida course will be taught on Instructure’s Canvas Network. According to a press release from Instructure, the first version of BlendKit was popular with both higher education and K-12 professionals. This year’s version of the MOOC will include critiques on the students’ design work from peers and experts, weekly seminars from guest presenters, and templates and how-to guides for designing blended learning courses.
