[January 7, 2025] — The award-winning STEM Sports® curriculum, which has brought active, engaged learning to more than 500 school districts and learning institutions, is now available in a first-of-its-kind Digital Curriculum. STEM Sports uses high-energy, engaging physical activities to inspire hands-on learning of STEM topics and 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership. All lessons are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core State Standards - Math, and National Standards for K-12 Physical Education.
The turnkey, K–8 STEM Sports curriculum has already proven popular among educators. In a recent survey, 78% of teachers were extremely satisfied with how the curriculum nurtured students’ understanding of STEM subjects, and from pre-assessment to post-assessment, students showed an almost 30% increase in proficiency in STEM topics.
The ground-breaking Digital Curriculum, introduced ahead of the upcoming Future of Education Technology Conference, brings excitement and teamwork to digital learning through interactive physical activities and popular sports. Students experience STEM concepts by conducting sports-related experiments with provided supplies while tracking their hypotheses, measurements, and observations in the digital environment. This unique approach frees students to move their bodies, get out of their seats, and experience increased heart rates—elements often absent in traditional digital learning environments.
“Bringing STEM and sports together in a meaningful way has sparked curiosity, collaboration, and more complete conceptual understanding for students around the world,” said Jeff Golner, president and CEO of STEM Sports. “As many schools are now moving towards hybrid or completely digital learning, we are excited to increase accessibility to our unique combination of physical activity and 21st-century skills in a convenient, data-rich digital platform.”
Currently available digital modules are:
- STEM Basketball;
- STEM Football;
- STEM Soccer;
- STEM Volleyball; and
- The STEM Multi-Sport Original Edition.
STEM Baseball, STEM Golf, and STEM Softball modules are coming soon. Each module contains interactive videos, images, and simulations to inspire engaged learning and assessment. For individualized pacing or accessibility purposes, educators have the flexibility to differentiate instruction within modules by student. Other key benefits for educators include:
- Real-time monitoring of student progress and the ability to quickly identify and intervene if additional help is needed;
- Comprehensive tracking of standards alignment and time spent on each standard;
- Lists of STEM jobs and careers within every lesson;
- Differentiated instruction capabilities through reassignment of practice materials and flexible assessment options; and
- Automated assessments and grading viewable at both student and class levels.
“Leveraging Technology is a key pillar in K-12 education,” Golner concluded, “and our Digital Curriculum not only empowers students to apply problem-solving skills that they will use in their future education and careers, but helps them become well-rounded in their understanding of the digital tools and environments they’ll use throughout their lives."
