The Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance (VLLA) and Cognia are pleased to announce a new, groundbreaking partnership to offer synchronized accreditation for virtual learning programs that earn accreditation through AccredVEd, powered by VLLA. The agreement marks Cognia’s first partnership in the Synchronized Accreditation Program specially focused on virtual learning, a significant milestone for both organizations. This collaboration enhances the accreditation process for virtual schools and online programs, offering a research-based approach to recognizing and evaluating high-quality online education.
AccredVEd, powered by VLLA, is a specialized accreditation and certification program designed to elevate virtual schools and online programs. By combining a trained, expert peer review team with the research-based, National Standards for Quality Online Programs, AccredVEd streamlines the process of recognizing and evaluating high-quality virtual learning. This empowers virtual schools and online programs to certify their excellence, expand their reach, and earn the trust of students, parents, and local education officials—all while staying on the leading edge of education.
Through this partnership, virtual schools and online programs accredited by AccredVEd will have the opportunity to achieve dual accreditation with Cognia, a forward-thinking, global nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing educational excellence. Cognia’s holistic approach to continuous improvement encompasses accreditation, certification, assessment, and customized improvement services. Cognia Accreditation helps education providers meet improvement standards and sustain a commitment to better learner outcomes.
“We are excited about this partnership with VLLA - AccredVEd, bringing the gold standard of accreditation to virtual learning. Together, we are strengthening quality assurance in digital education and ensuring students receive a rigorous, high-quality learning experience,” says Dr. Adina Victor, Vice President of Non-Public School Services at Cognia.
The Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance is a nonprofit organization composed of members representing supplemental virtual programs from across the United States. Its members consist largely of state virtual schools, along with several outstanding consortia that share a commitment to improving and expanding online learning opportunities.
John Ashworth, VLLA President emphasized the benefits of this partnership: “By integrating Cognia’s well-established accreditation framework with AccredVEd’s specialized approach for virtual learning, we are providing online programs with a robust pathway to demonstrate excellence and continuous improvement.”
